Kid Kapichi
Anybody familiar with the teeth-gnashing, blood-dripping punk snarl of Kid Kapichi knows about their Fearless Nature. So at first glance, it’s no surprise that the Hastings band’s fourth album carries that title.
The group that lacerated the anxious political zeitgeist with the partygate-baiting ‘Party At No. 10’, and challenged Kafkaesque Brexit disillusionment with ‘Can EU Hear Me’, have always stood out for their fearlessness—never afraid to stick their heads above the parapet.
Lean in closer to Fearless Nature, though, and something feels different.
On lead single ‘Stainless Steel’, when that album title first crosses the lips of frontman Jack Wilson, it isn’t a statement of defiance—it’s a moment of doubt.
“Are you scared of your fearless nature?”
The question is clearly aimed inward.
“I’m not made of stainless steel… I’m made of blood, I’m made of bone.”
Wilson describes ‘Stainless Steel’ as the bridge between the old Kid Kapichi and the new. Musically, it still hits with the band’s signature punch—tight, muscular, relentless—but lyrically, there’s a maturity and vulnerability that marks a clear evolution.
